Auto Eater

by nicolas-reig

With Auto Eater running, a player no longer has to watch the food bar, because the client picks a food from the hotbar and starts eating when hunger drops below a set threshold.

What it does

Auto Eater is a client-side Fabric mod that watches the hunger value and, once it falls under a chosen threshold, selects a food item and begins eating it. After the meal, the mod returns the hotbar selection to the slot the player had before. If no food sits on the hotbar, the mod searches the inventory, pulls a food item into the last hotbar slot and eats it from there. Settings are kept in a configuration screen, and the mod runs without any server-side install.

The mod suits players who want full manual control during combat, building or other precise actions, and who only need the hunger bar handled in the background. A killswitch hotkey turns Auto Eater off at once without opening the configuration screen, and eating is canceled when the player scrolls away or presses left click, after which the mod stays inactive for a configurable period. Taking damage also cancels it as a safety measure. The mod is open source under the MIT License, is published for 1.21.3 – 26.3, and has a source code repository and an issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Threshold-based eating

Eating starts when the food bar falls below a set value, so the player does not have to track hunger by hand.

  2. Adaptive hunger threshold

The threshold can adapt to the food supply instead of staying at one fixed hunger value.

  3. Food preference modes

The auto min mode picks the least nutritious food available and auto max picks the most nutritious one.

  4. Food blacklist

Specific foods can be blocked from automatic eating, which keeps rare or dangerous items such as golden apples or suspicious stew out of the process.

  5. Interface item protection

An option to exclude inventory interface items keeps eating from interfering with server shops and menus that use items as buttons.

What the author says

Auto Eater Mod ================= This is a simple client mod to stop worrying about eating all the time, selecting the food and eating. It detects whenever the foodbar falls below a certain threshold, selects food in your hotbar, and starts eating, and selects back the slot you had. You can add items to a blacklist…
