Arrow Recovery

by fauxastre

Arrow Recovery lets arrows that hit mobs drop back at the mob's death location, with a configurable chance to recover each one.

FabricServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

The mod tracks arrows that stick in mobs and drops them where the mob dies. The recovery roll is set to 75 percent by default and can be changed in the configuration. Tipped arrows can keep their potion effect or lose it on recovery, and an arrow that fails the roll breaks with a particle effect and sound. Vanilla arrows and most modded arrows built on standard item tags are covered.

The mod is built for servers with large mob counts. Lookups for tracked arrows stay quick however many projectiles are active, a cleanup system keeps memory from building up, and piercing and multishot enchantments do not produce duplicate drops. Arrows shot in creative mode break and drop nothing when a mob dies. Arrow Recovery requires Fabric API. The server needs the mod, while clients may leave it out. It is published for Fabric only, across 1.21.1, 1.21.5 and 1.21.11, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Configurable recovery chance

Set how often arrows are recovered; the default is 75 percent of arrows that hit a mob.

  2. Tipped arrow handling

Tipped arrows can either keep their potion effect on recovery or lose it as regular arrows do.

  3. Broken arrow effects

Arrows that fail the recovery roll break with particle effects and a sound, so the loss is visible.

  4. Large-volume arrow tracking

Arrow lookups and cleanup keep server load low when many projectiles are in play.

Modpacks on newer versions

Modpack builders on 1.21.5 or 1.21.11 can add arrow recovery where no other Fabric mod of this kind is current.

Who it’s for: Server owners running Fabric who want arrow recovery on a busy server, and modpack builders targeting 1.21.1, 1.21.5 or 1.21.11.
