Art of Alchemy

Materia is the physical matter that objects are made from, graded from F rank up to S rank, and a rumored eighth omega rank has no confirmed examples. Essentia is a metaphysical essence that cannot be touched directly and stays bound within an object until the object is dissolved. Thirteen essentia types exist in the world, each named after a celestial body or a related concept. Materia gives essentia its substance, and essentia gives materia its form.

The mod's machines follow that split. A Calcination Furnace burns solid fuel, the way a regular furnace does, to drive essentia out of a substance and leave only materia. A Dissolution Chamber uses alkahest, a universal solvent, to break a materia substance down into a solution of essentia. A Synthesis Table combines materia and essentia with a small portion of the target substance to make a catalyst substance. Basic machines extract only half of the theoretical yield, while a philosopher's stone allows upgrading them into faster, more efficient versions. A Projection Altar upgrades materia into higher-ranking forms.

Art of Alchemy is published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.17.1, with 1.3.4 as the latest file. It is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Cloth Config is needed alongside Fabric API for the mod's options screen. The code is open source under the MIT License, and public links exist for the source, the issue tracker and a wiki.
