Ancient Cities
by ESMP
Ancient Cities changes the Ancient City structures that generate in the world, with larger cities, new buildings and a built-in loot editor.
What it does
The data pack overhaul makes each Ancient City come out larger and more varied, replacing the same handful of vanilla rooms with custom buildings, bridges and structures. Danger stays in the cities, since the Warden still roams the depths beneath them. Ancient Cities is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a data pack build is also available.
The mod includes a loot editor for chests, barrels, pots and vaults. Its settings live in a plain-text file where players change which items appear, how common each one is and how many drop. Server owners can run the editor by command or JSON, and the editor flags typos in item names before any change is stored. Only the server needs the mod, and players may leave it out. The mod is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
Ancient Cities is published for 26.1 – 26.3 across five release versions, with the latest file 1.6 for 26.3, dated 2026-10-11. It was first published on 2026-09-19 by ESMP.
