[AN]Adaptive Nemesis
by LOAE_U987
[AN]Adaptive Nemesis is a Forge and NeoForge mod that scales hostile mobs to the player's combat profile, so a world stays dangerous as gear improves.
What it does
Adaptive Nemesis reads the player's combat profile and assigns each hostile mob a personal gift system: every spawn rolls a scaling between 70% and 130% of its base values, so two zombies spawned together can have different strengths, personalities and threat levels. Base values are stored in NBT, and if those tags are cleared the mod falls back to DefaultAttributes, which can lead to exponential HP inflation on broken saves.
The mod targets modpacks where the early game feels too lenient and the late game too challenging, a common imbalance in mainstream integration packs. Its data files let server owners shape the result: world stages and caps in data/world_stages, custom invasions in data/invasions covering waves, enemies, effects and rewards, and Nemesis profiles with behaviors in data/nemesis. Power feeds the mob evolution, so the balance can be tuned per pack. The mod runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source for Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1.
Key features
Personal mob rolls
Each hostile mob receives a random scaling between 70% and 130% of its base values at spawn.
Combat profile tracking
The mod reads the player's combat profile and adjusts hostile mobs to match, rather than to the armor bar.
Configurable data files
World stages, invasions and Nemesis profiles are defined in JSON, so server owners can set caps and behaviors.
Anti-explosion safeguards
Safeguards are included to limit explosive threats while the difficulty adapts.

What the author says
You know the drill. You start a modpack. Early game: you're scratching zombies with a wooden stick, questioning your life choices. Late game: you're in full god gear one-shotting everything that moves, bored out of your mind. It watches you. It learns. And it makes sure the world stays dangerous — no matter how…
