ZG Mobs

by Zetadrayzer

ZG Mobs changes hostile mobs in Minecraft by raising their stats, adding abilities and altering their drops, and it ships with a config for almost every setting.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Hostile mobs receive extra health, armor, damage and movement speed, and the mod adds some speed on top of that. A rarer boosted variant called Germonium Mobs appears on about 1% of spawns and comes in two types, and these carry special abilities. Certain mobs also get extra buffs of their own, such as slimes, magma cubes and phantoms, which are enlarged, and shulkers, whose bullets explode and apply a negative effect. Blazes shoot stronger fireballs, and Celestium mobs are a rarer variant of their own.

Several mobs reflect part of the damage they take back at the attacker, with a damage cap so a single hit cannot kill a player outright. Enhanced mobs drop up to 40 or 80 times the usual experience, and their loot tables can add heart crystals, which permanently increase max health, along with rare minerals and enchanted books. Heart crystals can also drop from the Lost Shrine mod's heart fragments and containers instead, through a config option.

The config file covers nearly every number and loot table entry, so modpack creators can balance the mod with their own setup. A mob blacklist accepts individual mob IDs such as minecraft:zombie and entity tags such as minecraft:skeletons. Infernium and Celestium mob drops can also be changed with a datapack. Installation needs Forge or NeoForge. Builds are published for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 2.3.0 for 1.20.1 and 2.3.1 for 1.21.1 as the latest files. Players on client and server both need the mod, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, so the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Scaled hostile mobs

Hostile mobs gain more health, armor, damage and movement speed than their vanilla versions.

  2. Germonium mobs

A rare boosted variant appears on about 1% of spawns, in two types with special abilities.

  3. Thorns damage

Some mobs return a share of the damage taken to the attacker, capped so a hit cannot instantly kill.

  4. Heart crystal drops

Certain mobs drop heart crystals that permanently increase max health, with drop chances set in the config.

  5. Configurable mob blacklist

Single mob IDs and entity tags can be excluded from the changes, and loot tables are fully editable.

It upgrades all hostile mobs by giving them extra stats like more health, armor, damage, movement speed, and more. These boosted mobs are called Germonium Mobs, and they have a 1% chance to spawn.
