World Progress

by Abslb

World Progress is a NeoForge addon for AnvilLib that stores a persistent world-level progress flag for each recorded event, so mods and datapacks can check whether it has happened.

NeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.1

What it does

Progress flags are saved to disk with the world, so a flag recorded in one session is still set after the world is reloaded. Each flag tracks whether a specific event has been completed in that world, which lets other content depend on what has already happened there.

A custom predicate, InWorldRecipe, lets a recipe pass only when a chosen world progress entry is marked completed. Flags can be read and changed through a Java API, and managed with commands. World Progress requires AnvilLib, and the mod runs on client and server.

Files are published for 1.21.1 on NeoForge only, with 0.0.1 as the latest file, released 2026-01-15. The source code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and the issue tracker is public.

Key features

  1. Persistent progress flags

Each progress entry records whether an event has been completed, and the value is kept with the world save.

  2. InWorldRecipe predicate

A recipe predicate that passes only when the specified world progress has been completed, enabling world-state-dependent recipes.

  3. Java API access

Progress data can be queried and modified from other mods through a Java API.

  4. Command management

Progress entries can be inspected and changed in game with commands, which suits server administration.

Use cases

Gated crafting

A datapack recipe can be set to pass only after a progress flag such as a boss defeat has been recorded in the world.

Mod integration

Another mod can record its own events in the world progress system and read them back through the Java API.

Who it’s for: Modpack authors, datapack creators and server owners who want recipes or other content to depend on events that have occurred in a particular world.

Questions

Does World Progress need AnvilLib?

Yes. AnvilLib is required, and it must be installed alongside World Progress on NeoForge 1.21.1.

Is World Progress needed on both the client and the server?

Installation covers the server and each player's game.

Where is progress data stored?

Saved progress data stays on disk inside the world folder, so it carries over between sessions for that world.
