Spinosaurus Origin lets a player take on the form of a sail-backed theropod, with traits suited to life in water.

What it does

Choosing this origin turns the player into a large theropod dinosaur with a sail-like structure on its back. The origin follows the belief that the animal lived mostly in water and fed on fish, so its powers lean toward swimming, holding breath and fighting near water. Traits include a longer breath underwater, extra speed while swimming, and a hydration bonus that grows when the player is soaked.

The origin depends on Origins for its origin system and on Pehkui for resizing the player to the dinosaur's scale. Both have to be installed on the server with this mod. Spinosaurus Origin is server required and client optional, so players may join without it, but the server must run it. The mod is released under the BSD 2-Clause License, which is not open source. Files exist for Fabric and Quilt for 1.19 – 1.20.1, and the latest build, 1.0.0+mod for 1.20.1, came out on 2024-09-10.

    The player only starts to suffocate after a full minute underwater, and can sink to the ground when they choose.

  5. Night and step traits

    Scotopic vision helps in the dark, and long legs let the player step up one block tall surfaces such as slabs.
