SpawnForce

by Bahanos

Players who notice that certain mobs never appear in their world can install SpawnForce, a Fabric mod that forces listed entities to spawn past Minecraft's own spawn checks.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

SpawnForce bypasses the three vanilla canSpawn gates: the SpawnHelper location check, the SpawnRestriction predicate that a mod registers, and the per-mob MobEntity override. Mobs held back by light level, specific ground blocks, biome lists or hardcoded restrictions can then appear in places where they would otherwise never generate, including custom biomes and worlds whose datapack declares them.

The mod is config-driven and mod-agnostic. A config file holds a whitelist of entity IDs, and only those entities skip the checks; every other spawn keeps its normal rules. An optional debug log reports how often each entity's bypass fires, with periodic statistics. The bypass has its own toggle, so a server can enable only what it needs. Changes to the config take effect after the game is restarted.

Key features

  1. Entity whitelist

Specific entity IDs listed in the config file are the only ones that bypass the spawn checks.

  2. Three vanilla gates bypassed

The location check, the registered spawn predicate and the per-mob override are all skipped for listed entities.

  3. Debug logging

An optional log shows bypass hits per entity along with periodic statistics for checking what the mod changes.

  4. Separate bypass toggle

The bypass can be switched off on its own, so only the needed entities are forced to spawn.

Use cases

Mobs from other mods

Many modded mobs, such as the orcs, shamans and fungi of AdventureZ or the bosses of Marium's Soulslike Weaponry, refuse to spawn because of restrictive predicates. Whitelisting them lets them appear.

Custom biomes and datapacks

Entities that a datapack's worldgen declares in custom biomes can be forced to spawn there, even when the biome's own rules would block them.

Modpack spawn tuning

A modpack maker can keep the list of forced entities small, enabling the bypass only for the mobs the pack depends on.

Who it’s for: SpawnForce suits modpack makers and server owners who run Fabric and want specific mobs from other mods, or mobs stuck behind restrictive spawn rules, to appear in their world. It is most relevant on modpacks such as Legends Reborn and Medieval modpacks, where many mob mods are combined.

Questions

Does SpawnForce need to be installed on both sides?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Which entities does SpawnForce affect?

Only the entity IDs listed in its config file bypass the checks. Every other entity keeps its normal spawn rules.

Do config changes apply without a restart?

No. The game must be restarted after the config file is edited for the changes to take effect.

What the author says

SpawnForce is a lightweight Fabric mod that forces specific entities to spawn by bypassing Minecraft's three canSpawn gates. Many modded mobs (AdventureZ orcs/shamans/fungi, Marium's Soulslike Weaponry bosses, and others) ship with strict spawn predicates (light level, specific blocks, biome hardcoded lists) that…
