Spawnable Torterra Variants [Cobblemon]
Spawnable Torterra Variants is a Fabric data pack for Cobblemon that lets Torterra variants appear naturally in set biomes, as Cobblemon spawn entries.
What it does
Torterra variants become part of the natural spawn tables in several biomes. They spawn in the Forest Flower Forest, the Birch Forest and Old Growth Forest, and the Dark Oak and Dark Oak Forest biomes. Other biomes listed by the author include the Mangrove Swamp, the Taiga and Pines variants, the Crimson Forest, the Warped Forest, Lush Caves and Cherry Grove.
The mod is a data pack for Cobblemon rather than a set of code changes, so it works by adding spawn entries that the Cobblemon spawner reads. Server owners who want Torterra variants in certain regions can use it without editing other Cobblemon files. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source.
Installation requires Cobblemon and Fabric API on Fabric. The server needs the mod to run the spawn entries, while clients may leave it out. Files cover Minecraft 1.21 and 1.21.1, and the latest Fabric build, 1.0 for 1.21.1, was published on 2026-08-10.
Key features
Natural Torterra spawns
Torterra variants appear in the wild rather than only through trades or commands, so players encounter them while exploring.
Biome-specific spawns
Each variant is tied to chosen biomes, such as forests, swamps, caves and groves, instead of spawning everywhere.
Broad biome coverage
Entries cover a range of forest, taiga, swamp and cave biomes, including Crimson Forest, Warped Forest and Cherry Grove.
Cobblemon data pack
Spawns are defined as data, so the setup can be adjusted or removed without changing the Cobblemon code.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Who it’s for: The mod suits Cobblemon server owners and map makers who want to control where Torterra variants appear. Players on a server that runs it encounter the spawns without installing anything.
How it compares
Nether Spawnproof is server-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.21.11, so it targets a newer version than this mod. Eco Picks is needed on the client, with the server optional, and is not open source, with files for 1.21.3 – 1.21.5. Pibble Mod runs on client and server, is open source under the MIT License and covers 1.21.1 – 1.21.5, which overlaps this mod's version range.
