Smooth Zooming
by Erz05
Smooth Zooming replaces the sudden field-of-view jumps of vanilla zoom with a gradual camera transition, and Fabric players can bind zoom to a key of their choice.
What it does
Holding the zoom key narrows the view with a smooth animation, and releasing it returns the camera to normal. Zoom in and zoom out are both eased, so the camera moves in a continuous motion rather than twitching between two levels. Players who want closer control can scroll the mouse wheel while the zoom key is held to fine-tune the zoom distance.
The zoom key is C by default and can be rebound through the vanilla Controls settings, with no extra config file needed. Zoom In and Zoom Out also have their own bindable keys for approaching and distancing, and they work without the scroll wheel for players who prefer keyboard control. Zoom works only while its key is held, and each new press starts from the default zoom level instead of the last one used.
Smooth Zooming is client-side only, so servers run without it and players join without installing anything. It is built for Fabric and runs on 1.21.4 and 1.21.11, with 1.0.0 for 1.21.11 as the latest file. The mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Smooth zoom animation
Zoom in and out ease between field-of-view levels, so the change never jumps from one view to the next.
Mouse wheel fine-tuning
Scrolling while the zoom key is held adjusts the zoom distance, letting players pick the level they want.
Separate zoom keys
Zoom In and Zoom Out have their own keys, unbound by default and set under the Controls settings.
Reset on each press
Each new press of the zoom key starts at the default zoom level rather than the level used last time.
Localized interface
Text is available in Russian, English US and UK, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Ukrainian.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
