Simple Planes

by SappyInsane

Simple Planes adds upgradeable planes and helicopters, with a choice of four aircraft types and three engine kinds that power them.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.19.2 – 1.21.1

What it does

Four aircraft types are available: a small plane that burns the least fuel and flies fastest but seats one player, a large plane that seats two and can drop payloads, a cargo plane that carries several players and large upgrades, and a helicopter that turns with more precision than the large plane. Each aircraft has to be powered before it flies, and the throttle is set with the up and down arrow keys once the engine is on.

Engines come in furnace, liquid and electric kinds. The furnace engine burns solid fuel, the liquid engine burns liquid fuel such as lava or fuels from other mods, and the electric engine draws Forge energy or redstone flux. Aircraft can be crafted from any wood, including modded wood, and nether planks make one fireproof. Installation needs Forge or NeoForge, and the mod runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source.

Key features

  1. Four aircraft types

Small plane, large plane, cargo plane and helicopter, each trading speed, fuel use and passenger count differently.

  2. Three engine kinds

Furnace, liquid and electric engines let a builder choose the fuel source that suits the world.

  3. Payload drops

Large planes and helicopters can carry supply crates or TNT and release them mid-flight.

  4. Storage and music upgrades

Chests, including iron chests, and jukeboxes can be fitted to large planes and helicopters.

  5. Floaty bedding

An aircraft fitted with floaty bedding can rest on water instead of sinking.
