Roost Re-hatched

The roost is a fast flightless bird that players can tame with grubs, its favourite food. A tamed roost can be told to follow or sit, and it never seems to run out of stamina while running. A mounted player can also stay aloft for a short drop, and a rider is immune to fall damage. Roosts roamed the overworld long ago and are now mostly extinct, so players mostly find them through Illager roost rider outposts, where one is usually held captive. The outposts are the only place to find a tameable roost in the mod.

The Illagers learned to hatch roost eggs and to ride roosts, and a new kind of dangerous Illager joins the raids with a glaive, a weapon with a slow attack speed but a quick, far reach. Roost eggs are rarely found in rider outposts, and feeding a roost a grub salad can drop one. Grub salad is an animal feed with a unique effect that induces hatching, and it also works on sniffers and chickens. Roost evolution breeding has a 15% chance of breaking.

Roost Re-hatched needs Geckolib and runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it. It is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, and the latest file is 1.1.0 from 2024-03-24. Better Combat is an optional dependency. The code is all rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.
