Revolve

by Phoenixy

Revolve replaces the flat sun and moon sprites of Minecraft with 3D models that rotate across the sky through the day and night cycle.

NeoForgeClient required, server optionalAll rights reserved1.21.1 – 1.21.8

What it does

Sun and moon are drawn as three-dimensional bodies rather than flat textures, which gives the sky added depth when the player looks up. The rotation is animated smoothly as in-game time advances, so the day and night cycle moves gently rather than abruptly. The effect is meant to stay dynamic without drawing attention away from play. Revolve works alongside shaders and other visual mods without clashing with them. It needs NeoForge, and it is published for 1.21.1 – 1.21.8 under All rights reserved, not as open source. Only the client needs it; a server can run without it.

Key features

  1. 3D sun and moon

The celestial bodies use solid models in place of the flat sprites, so they read as objects in the sky.

  2. Smooth rotation

The sun and moon turn steadily across the sky as the day passes, following the vanilla cycle.

  3. Vanilla-friendly visuals

The changes stay close to vanilla Minecraft and are built to work alongside shaders and other visual mods.

Questions

Does Revolve need to be installed on the server?

No. Only players need the mod to see the 3D sun and moon, so a server can run without it.
