Protection Balancer
by ElocinDev
Protection Balancer replaces the vanilla armor and Protection enchantment damage formulas on Fabric servers, with customizable reduction curves.
What it does
The mod recalculates how much damage armor and the Protection enchantment absorb. By default, full armor at 60 points reduces damage by up to 15 percent, and a full set of Protection V reduces it by up to 10 percent, far below the vanilla figures. Custom formulas can be defined to set different limits.
It runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. Installation requires Fabric API. The mod is published for Fabric across 15 release versions, 1.17 – 1.20.4, and is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Armor reduction formula
Damage reduction from armor is recalculated with a configurable formula instead of the vanilla values.
Protection enchantment formula
The Protection enchantment uses its own customizable formula, separate from the armor calculation.
Default balance
Out of the box, armor caps at 15 percent and Protection at 10 percent, reducing the effect of enchantments.
