Portal Gun [Forge]

by TarLaboratories

Portal Gun, by TarLaboratories, is a Forge mod that adds a handheld gun for placing linked portals and a set of test elements in the style of the Portal games.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.20.6

What it does

The Portal Gun is the central item: it places two linked portals on compatible surfaces, and a player can walk through either one to come out at the other. Alongside it come test elements such as the Emancipation Grid, Weighted Storage Companion Cubes, a Pressure Button and a Hard Light Bridge, so puzzles can be built around portal travel.

The mod also includes an energy system built from a new Aperturestone type, with redstone input and output and logic gates for wiring test chambers. Survival crafting recipes are provided for the items, and the feature list is limited to these portal and test-chamber elements. Files target Forge only, across six release versions, and the mod runs on client and server.

The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source; its source code and issue tracker are public. The latest Forge file is 0.1.1 for 1.20.6, published on 2025-05-29 on the alpha channel.
