Origins: Mario
by Ten_Mic_10
With Origins: Mario installed alongside Origins, a player can take on a Mario-style character, gaining its movement abilities and a choice of origin.
What it does
Origins: Mario adds a Mario-themed origin to the Origins framework, so a player picks it as a character and gets its abilities in place of the default ones. The movement set includes a faster sprint jump, a wall jump that can also damage a nearby entity, and a Super Boost that charges on the ground and launches the player forward when a jump follows. Taking fall damage is kept as a normal rule, which means the origin does not remove it.
The mod needs Origins to work, and it is the only required dependency. It is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, with files covering 1.18 – 1.21 across 16 release versions. The latest file, 1.0+mod for 1.21, was released on 2024-07-31, which is also the first and last update date. The server must run the mod, while players may leave it out and still join. The code is MIT licensed, but the project is not open source.
Key features
Mario origin
A Mario-themed character becomes one of the choices within Origins, changing how the player moves and fights.
Faster sprint jump
The sprint jump covers more ground than the default, which speeds up crossings over gaps and platforms.
Wall jump
The player can jump off a wall, and the jump can deal damage to an entity the player lands on.
Super Boost
Charging on the ground and then jumping sends the player higher, and pressing the movement key boosts forward.

Use cases
Platforming on a server
A server running Origins can offer this origin to players who want to move through obstacle courses with the altered jump set.
Who it’s for: Server owners who already run Origins and want a character option with Mario-style movement, and players who choose origins on such a server.
How it compares
Super Mario MC is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that runs on client and server, under All rights reserved and not open source, so it differs from this origin by being a standalone content mod. Super Block World is also Forge only for 1.20.1, with client and server use and an MIT License, and it is open source. Mario 64 Paintings is a Fabric mod for 1.21 – 1.21.5 under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, not open source, and it is needed on the server, with the client optional, with only the server required, which makes it the closest in environment to this mod.
