NetherPortalHelper
by Alek2403
NetherPortalHelper is a Fabric client-side utility that calculates the Nether coordinate conversion so a portal can be linked on the first try.
What it does
Building a Nether portal in the Overworld and stepping through can drop a player inside solid stone far from the intended spot. NetherPortalHelper converts coordinates between the Overworld and the Nether at the 8:1 ratio, so a player can choose the target point and place the portal on the exact block that links to it, without doing the arithmetic by hand or reading the F3 debug screen.
The mod works as a navigation overlay. A target can be locked with a key press, after which a large three-dimensional arrow on screen points toward it, with green and red arrows indicating whether the current heading is correct. A precision mode checks the block grid on the X and Z axes, and the whole overlay can be hidden at once with a single key. Its interface is kept minimal, and it adapts to the language set in the game.
The client needs the mod. Servers do not need it, and the mod changes nothing on the server side. It is published for Fabric only, and its files cover 1.21.1, 1.21.2, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.11, 26.1 and 26.2, with 1.3.0 for 26.2 as the latest file. The code is under the MIT License, and the project is not open source.
Key features
Coordinate conversion
Overworld and Nether coordinates are converted automatically, so no calculator or debug screen is needed.
Target locking
Pressing P freezes the target coordinates, so the chosen spot is remembered while the player moves.
3D navigation arrow
A large arrow appears on screen once a target is locked, pointing toward the portal location.
Green and red direction arrows
A green arrow confirms the right path and a red arrow warns when the player is heading the wrong way.
Precision grid check
Precision mode checks the exact block grid on the X and Z axes to aim for a 1:1 link.
Overlay toggle
The whole overlay can be switched off instantly with F6 for a clean screen.
