Immersive structures

by ChoiceTheorem

Immersive structures adds about thirty biome-matched buildings to the overworld, with a datapack edition for servers that cannot run a mod.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.01.19 – 1.21.11

What it does

The mod places new structures in overworld biomes, with buildings chosen to suit the ambience and look of each biome. The author plans around thirty unique structures by completion. The structures generate in newly created chunks only, so an existing world gains them as players explore new terrain, and vanilla structures stay unchanged.

Installation is server-side: the server needs the mod while players can join without it, so the environment is server required with client optional. Builds cover game versions 1.19 – 1.21.11 for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a data pack edition is also available, for which the author says there will be no backport below 1.18.2. The code is not open source; it is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license.

Key features

  1. Biome-matched buildings

New structures are placed to match the look and feel of the biome they generate in.

  2. Overworld placement

Structures spawn only in the overworld and only in chunks generated after the mod is added.

  3. Locate command

Each structure has an imst identifier, so players can find one with the locate command.

  4. Data pack edition

A data pack version gives servers the same structures without installing a Java mod.

Use cases

Adding structures to a survival world

Server owners can add the pack to an existing world to give explorers new landmarks in fresh terrain.

Modpacks

Modpack builders may include the mod, provided they credit the author and link to the project page.

Who it’s for: The mod suits server owners and modpack builders who want more overworld structures and players who explore new terrain.

Questions

Does updating the mod to a newer build carry risk?

The author says updating is safe, and asks players to report any serious problems that follow an update.

Will existing chunks get the new structures?

No. The structures only spawn in newly generated chunks, so an existing world gains them only in unexplored terrain.

How can players locate a structure?

On 1.19 and later the command is /locate structure imst followed by the structure name; on 1.18.2 the command is /locate imst followed by the name.
