HexVR
by Nanorasmus
HexVR lets players cast Hex spells in Vivecraft VR, with patterns drawn in mid air and a grid that can be configured.
What it does
HexVR is a client-side addon for Hex Casting that makes spell casting in VR more natural. Players draw spells in mid air instead of through the standard screen, can draw several patterns in one motion, and have casting hands handled for either side. New patterns take their position and rotation from the VR player's head and hands, so casting follows the body.
The mod also shows casting stacks: a player can see previous versions of a stack and watch other players' casts, and can give others copies of a stack. A configurable grid helps players aim patterns. Architectury API, Hex Casting and Vivecraft are required. HexVR runs on client and server, so both sides need it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source. Files target 1.19.2 – 1.20.6, with the latest build for 1.20.1 on Fabric, Quilt and the Forge and NeoForge builds for 1.20.6. Some features are limited to particular loaders or to 1.19.2, as the source notes.
Key features
Mid-air spell drawing
Spell patterns are drawn with the hands in open space rather than on a flat interface.
Multiple patterns at once
Several patterns can be drawn in a single action, shortening longer spell sequences.
Ambidextrous casting
Casting works with either hand, so players are not limited to one dominant side.
Shared casts
Other players' casts can be seen, and copies of a stack can be given to them.

How it compares
The Hex Caster is for Fabric and Forge on 1.20.1 only and is not open source under All rights reserved. HexOverpowered is open source under the MIT License, covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.19.2 – 1.21.1, and shares the client and server environment. Hexcessible is a client-side only Fabric mod for 1.20.1 – 1.20.6 under a custom license, so servers do not need it.
