Grave Keeper

by Quantumlyy

Grave Keeper gives each player a grave on death that holds the inventory, so items are not lost on respawn and can be recovered later.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.12.2

What it does

When a player dies, the inventory is saved to a grave block placed at the death location. Loot goes back into its original slot when the grave is opened, and a grave can only be broken by its owner or by an admin, which keeps creative players from collecting its contents with a right click. Graves can expire after a set time, and that behavior is configurable.

Server owners can adjust many settings, including bypassing the keepInventory rule. The author describes balance and integration with other mods as a priority, and lists support for several other mods, among them Aether Legacy, Baubles and GalactiCraft.

Grave Keeper runs on Forge for 1.12.2 only. It is a client and server mod, so both the server and every player need it. It is published under All rights reserved and is not open source, though the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Grave on death

The inventory is stored in a grave at the place of death instead of being dropped.

  2. Slot restore

Items taken from the grave return to the inventory slots they came from.

  3. Grave details and expiry

Sneaking and right-clicking a grave shows its details, and graves can be set to expire after a limited time.

  4. In-game history

The gklist command lists previous graves, and gkrestore restores the player's saved inventory or teleports to an earlier grave.

Which game versions does Grave Keeper support?

Only 1.12.2 has Forge files, and the latest file is 1.12.2-0.6.1.1, published on 2021-10-22.
