Fast Paths
by StaticLabs
Fast Paths is a server-side transportation mod that makes established trails faster to walk on, using path blocks that give a movement speed boost.
What it does
Walking on the path blocks the mod adds gives a movement speed boost, so trails worn between bases and villages become quicker to travel. The effect is meant to reward players who build road networks, linking early-game exploration with late-game transport. Path blocks are the only addition, and the mod works through a datapack rather than a complex interface.
Because it is a datapack, the mod keeps close to vanilla behavior and adds no menus or intricate mechanics. It works in single-player worlds, LAN worlds and on multiplayer servers. When the datapack loads, a chat message reports that it has initialized, and a game restart is needed after installing it.
Fast Paths is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack, with builds covering 1.16 – 26.1.1. It is required on the server and optional for players. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Speed on established trails
Path blocks give a movement speed boost, so walking a well-used route is faster than crossing open ground.
Path blocks
Exclusive path blocks form the trails that carry the speed effect, letting players mark their own roads.
Vanilla-friendly design
The changes are kept small and close to standard game behavior, with no extra menus or complex systems.
Chat initialization notice
A chat message confirms when the datapack has loaded, so the server owner knows the content is active.

How it compares
Faster Paths is the most closely related option, with files for 1.20.5 – 26.3 under a custom license, and it is not open source. Fast Path Original covers 1.17 – 26.3 under the MIT License, and it is not open source either. Place on Path (PoP) runs on client and server for 1.16.5 – 26.3 and is open source under the MIT License, so it differs in environment and license.
