eXc ColoredElytra lets players dye elytra wings in any of 16 vanilla colors, and the wings keep their enchantments and durability.
What it does
Dyeing happens in a crafting grid: one elytra and two dyes of the same color, placed anywhere in the grid including the 2x2 inventory grid, produce the colored wings. The same recipe also recolors an elytra that is already dyed. Combining a colored elytra with a water bottle returns a plain elytra and an empty glass bottle. The item keeps its enchantments, custom name and durability, so an elytra with Unbreaking III and Mending stays that way and only its color changes. Colored elytra still fly and repair with phantom membranes like the original.
The mod is for players who want the wings to match an outfit or build, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric only, across 21 release versions 1.16.5 – 26.2, with snapshot builds included. Dyeing for Minecraft 1.21.11 and 26.1.x and later happens at the loom, which combines an elytra with a dye; older game versions use the crafting table recipe instead. The code is released under the MIT License and the project is not open source.
