Equal Mend Calculator

by weedweedweedsix

Equal Mend Calculator is a Fabric client-side HUD that works out the maximum equal durability an armor set can reach with mending from experience bottles.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

The HUD reads the current durability of each of the four armor pieces, the number of experience bottles in the inventory, and the armor mending enchantment. From these it estimates how many bottles are needed to bring the set to an equal durability, within a maximum difference of 10 points between pieces.

Each experience bottle gives between 3 and 11 experience points, a random value, so the result is not exact: the displayed figure can differ from what the game produces. The calculation depends on two key factors, the armor durability and the bottle yield, and the HUD only shows its estimate when the armor mending enchantment is present. Cloth Config API is required for the settings screen, and Mod Menu is required to open it from the game menu.

The mod runs on the client alone. Players install it on Fabric; servers do not need it. Files exist for 1.21.1 and 1.21.11, and the latest Fabric build is 1.0.0 for 1.21.11, published 2026-09-20. The code is released under the MIT License, but the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Equal durability estimate

The HUD shows the number of experience bottles needed to bring all four armor pieces to a shared durability level.

  2. Mending-only display

The HUD appears only when the armor mending enchantment is present, so it stays out of the way otherwise.

  3. Always-on or bottle-only view

The HUD can stay visible at all times or show only while an experience bottle is held, set through the options.

  4. Random yield noted

Because each bottle gives a random 3 to 11 experience points, the estimate is a guide rather than an exact value.

Questions

Does Equal Mend Calculator need Cloth Config API?

Yes. Cloth Config API is a required dependency and must be installed alongside the mod on Fabric.

Does the server need Equal Mend Calculator?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Why does the HUD show a range instead of a fixed number?

Each experience bottle gives a random 3 to 11 experience points, so the calculation is an estimate and can differ from the game's result.

Which game versions are supported?

Files exist for 1.21.1 and 1.21.11, with the latest Fabric build, 1.0.0, targeting 1.21.11.

What the author says

A lightweight, client-side HUD that calculates the maximum equal durability you can reach on all 4 of your armor pieces, based on the current durability of each armor piece and the number of XP bottles in your inventory. Each XP bottle gives you 3-11 experience points (RNG) which is not a fixed value meaning the…
