With Emendatus Enigmatica, modpack developers define new materials that generate ores, blocks, items and tools across the world.

What it does

Emendatus Enigmatica is a data-driven material registry for world generation. A developer registers a material once, and the mod produces its strata blocks, deposit features and matching items, which are tagged and given basic recipes from that registration. Minecraft supplies only a handful of feature generation options, so the mod's own deposit system covers most of the ore placement it offers.

The mod is built for modpack developers who want to unify the look and feel of modded materials. Setup is described in additional information on the wiki, which covers configuring new materials and the strata blocks they use. Client and server both need the mod, and the project is released under the MIT License as open source. Files exist for Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.16.5, 1.19.2 and 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Dynamic material registry

A material is registered with data rather than code, and the registry handles its world generation and compatibility.

  2. Strata and deposit generation

Each material gets strata blocks and deposit features that place its ores through the world generator.

  3. Tagged items and recipes

Items produced for a material are tagged, and basic recipes are included as soon as the material is registered.

  4. Version 2.1 add-on split

Mod-specific content was moved into add-ons in version 2.1, so the core handles the common material pipeline.
