Echoes of Utopia, a Forge mod for 1.12.2, brings back the King and Queen bosses from the classic Orespawn encounters with a rewritten engine.
What it does
The mod revives the King and Queen encounters from the classic era, with bosses rebuilt from the ground up for 1.12.2. Its author describes the work as a tribute that restores encounters lost over time, and states the code, AI combat logic and targeting systems were written from scratch because of the architectural differences between the two versions. Legacy models, audio and assets from the original release are kept.
The bosses scale with the group. Each additional player raises a boss's regeneration and damage output, while the boss's own health rises as well, so the encounter adapts to the size of the party. Damage caps are hard-coded so that weapons cannot one-shot a boss, and the mod's explosion logic and throttled targeting scans are meant to keep server load steady during large fights.
Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.12.2, with 1.2 as the latest file. The author states the mod does not claim ownership of the original OreSpawn property.
