Cryptic Foes

by CosmoCat

Cryptic Foes adds new hostile mobs to Minecraft Java Edition on Forge, led by the Howler, a cave-dwelling enemy whose scream stuns nearby targets.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Howlers are cave dwellers found in caves below Y level 0. They sleep on cave ceilings and do no harm unless something disturbs their rest. When awake, a Howler uses a scream that stuns everything in range, and a stunned target cannot act and takes damage while the effect lasts. A Howler drops membranes when defeated.

The mod also adds a few items and a block built around these mobs. A monstrous horn produces the same scream, a silencing blend removes sounds from an area, and the screamer is a new redstone block that knocks mobs back. Among the new items, a cave salad carries a few side effects. Cryptic Foes runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need the mod, and it is published for Forge 1.20.1 only.

Who it’s for: Players who want new cave enemies and a few themed items in a Forge 1.20.1 world, and server owners who run Forge with the mod installed on both sides.
