Crossroads
by Technomancer
Crossroads is a Forge and NeoForge technology mod in which simple one-block parts are combined into complex automated contraptions, starting with steampunk power systems.
What it does
The mod's design centers on automation built from simple pieces. Each block does one job, and players join them into machines that move, heat and process materials. Progress is measured by how well a player plans the layout rather than by waiting for a machine to finish a set amount of rare ore, so the difficulty comes from thinking through the arrangement.
From the start, the mod's power is split into separate heat, rotary and steam systems in a steampunk style. Later it shifts toward a teslapunk style, with alchemy labs that mass-produce raw resources, bioengineering that works with genetics, and technomancy workshops. Late-game tools include staffs that shoot lightning and flying vehicles that can cheaply produce most raw materials such as iron and redstone.
The mod requires Essentials on both Forge and NeoForge, and Patchouli is optional. Installation covers the server and each player's game. The code is under the MIT License and is open source. Builds cover 1.10.2 – 1.21.1, and the latest files are 1.20.1-2.10.4 for Forge and 1.21.1-2.12.0 for NeoForge.
Key features
Simple blocks that combine
Single-purpose blocks connect into larger contraptions, so a machine is built from parts that each do one thing.
Steampunk early power
Heat, rotary and steam power run on separate systems, giving the early game its own set of machines.
Teslapunk late game
Alchemy labs, bioengineering and technomancy workshops add mass production and genetic work later on.
Lightning staffs and flying vehicles
Staffs that shoot lightning and vehicles that fly are available in the late game, and vehicles can produce raw materials.
Designed for solo play
The balance assumes one player solving the layout alone, which gives a challenge similar to playing alone in Botania.

A tech mod with the goal of making automation interesting. No one block solutions, just simple pieces that combine to make complex contraptions. Crossroads is a mod where you make Rube Goldberg machines, except they're the simplest way to do things. Crossroads isn't balanced around waiting for machines to process or…
