Create: Deep Seas - Lava Fix

by Diyksfol

Create: Deep Seas - Lava Fix corrects fire and lava damage that still applies to players inside a sealed Deep Seas submarine.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Inside a sealed submarine that has been pumped out and is submerged in lava, the game's damage code still applied fire and lava damage to players standing in the emptied space. The mod changes those damage checks to account for the sealed submarine, so the interior is treated as safe air. When a player climbs out of a sealed compartment, the mod notices the move and turns off the fire overlay that would otherwise flicker across the screen.

The fix targets the interior behaviour of Create and Deep Seas rather than the outer hull. Players are protected while standing in hatches and doorways near the lava surface, while seated in Create seats, and while using ladders and trapdoors inside the submarine. Ticking fire damage that continued after a breached hull was re-sealed is also addressed. The mod is published for NeoForge only, for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, and it runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it.

Key features

  1. Interior lava damage fix

Players inside a sealed, lava-submerged submarine no longer take fire or lava damage while standing in the emptied interior.

  2. Hatch and doorway protection

Standing in hatches, doorways and at the lava surface entry and exit points does not trigger lava damage.

  3. Seats and ladders

Seated players in Create seats, and players using ladders and trapdoors inside the submarine, are covered by the same fix.

  4. Fire overlay suppression

The persistent fire overlay no longer shows on screen when a player is inside the sealed submarine after climbing out of a compartment.

Use cases

Lava-submerged submarines

Players who run a Deep Seas submarine in lava can move through the emptied interior without taking damage.

Reusing the fix

Deep Seas authors and other modders can study the source code, which is open to anyone including Create contributors, and reuse or integrate the logic.

Who it’s for: Players who use Deep Seas submarines in lava on NeoForge servers or single-player worlds, and developers who want a reference for handling sealed interiors in Create addons.

Questions

Does Create: Deep Seas - Lava Fix need to be installed on both sides?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Which loader does the mod support?

Only NeoForge. Files exist for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, with 1.0.1 for 1.21.11 as the latest release.

Why not change Deep Seas itself?

The author notes that overriding the core Deep Seas systems risks breaking the sealed submarine mechanic, so the fix stays separate and acts on the damage checks.

What the author says

A small NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that fixes a bug in Create: Deep Seas (CDS) where players inside a hermetically sealed submarine still take fire/lava damage while the submarine is submerged in lava, even though CDS correctly empties the interior of lava. > Author: Diyksfol > License: MIT > Note: This mod…
