Brassworks, a Create addon, gives brass a renewable route through washing gravel and sand, so the metal does not depend on Nether Fortress loot.

What it does

Washing gravel can yield Zinc Grit and washing sand can yield Copper Grit, both produced through Create's washing mechanics. These two materials feed a new Brass Dust recipe, and the dust can be smelted or blasted into regular brass ingots. Later in the game the process can be automated with a Mechanical Mixer that combines copper, zinc and Andesite Alloy, and that route yields dust at a higher rate than hand crafting.

Brassworks also adds recycling. A Brass Sheet or a Precision Mechanism can be turned back into Brass Dust, and an empty Blaze Burner returns Brass Dust with a chance to recover an Iron Sheet. A Precision Mechanism can additionally return Andesite Alloy. The mod makes brass progression less annoying without making brass free, and its aim is to offer a route that does not require hunting down a Nether Fortress first.

Installation requires Create and Create Fabric. Only the server needs the mod, while players may add it, so the mod works on the server alone. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, under the MIT License, and the project is not open source.

This is a small Create addon that gives you a few more ways to get and reuse brass. The main idea is pretty simple: make brass progression a little less annoying without making brass basically free. In particular, it gives you a way to get brass without needing to hunt down a Nether Fortress first.
