BuildGPT lets a player ask ChatGPT for a structure and places the result in the world through a single command.
What it does
A player runs the buildgpt command with a custom prompt, and the mod asks ChatGPT to generate a structure that is then placed in the world. The prompt is steered toward a structure inside a fixed bounding box, and after the response comes back the mod filters out any blocks that fall outside that box before placement. Entering a custom prompt in the command field replaces the default prompt for that run.
Generation depends on an OpenAI API key. The key is stored in a file in the config folder, named file.openaikey, and the buildgpt command is run once with valid parameters to generate it. Because the requests are billed through an OpenAI account, the key requires account credits. BuildGPT is Fabric and Quilt software and runs on the server, so players join without installing anything. The source is open and released under CC0 1.0 Universal, and the current file for 26.2 is dated 2026-04-12.
