Biome Painter

by JaaiDead

Biome Painter lets a player replace biomes in an already generated world, with saved regions that can be reapplied after a restart.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Biome Painter edits biomes at runtime, so a world does not have to be regenerated to change them. A player can replace one biome with another around the current position, convert a saved region to a new biome, or reapply a region that was stored earlier. Regions are saved automatically and survive restarts, which helps when a large biome project has to be resumed without repeating the same work.

The mod is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Edits made on the server reach every connected player, and developers can call a small API to extend Biome Painter. The code is not open source: the mod is released under All rights reserved. The latest Fabric file is 1.1.0 for 1.20.1, published on 2026-06-12.

Use cases

Fixing an accidental change

A mistake that turns part of a world into desert can be corrected by painting the area back to its original biome.

Large-scale biome projects

Regions converted in one session can be stored and reapplied later, so a project can continue after a restart.

Who it’s for: The mod suits server owners and map makers who want to reshape biomes in an existing world. Players on a server running it see the same biome changes, since the server keeps them synchronized.
