Better With Genders

by Bacrian

Better With Genders, a BTA Babric mod, gives the player and statues a gender setting that players can change through in-game menus.

BTA BabricClient required, server optionalGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen sourceb1.7.3

What it does

Players choose a gender for their own character and for statues, which the mod presents as a cosmetic and characterization option rather than a gameplay change. The G key opens the player gender menu, and holding SHIFT while right-clicking with the paintbrush item opens the statue gender menu. Several configuration options let players adjust how the customization behaves.

The mod is client required and server optional. Players need it installed to use the menus, while a server can run without it, although statue genders only appear for players on a server that also runs the mod. BAPILib is required and must be installed alongside Better With Genders. The mod is published only for b1.7.3 on BTA Babric, and its builds are released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, so the code is open source. Snapshot builds are also published.

Key features

  1. Player gender setting

Each player can set a gender for their own character through an in-game menu opened with the G key.

  2. Statue gender setting

Statues carry their own gender, changed by SHIFT and a right click with the paintbrush item.

  3. Configurable customization

Configuration options let players tune how the gender customization is applied and displayed.

  4. Client-side design

The gender display works on the client, and statue genders need the mod on the server as well to sync between players.

Use cases

Roleplay servers

Players on a roleplay server can set a character identity that other players see, with statues reflecting the same setting.

Solo characterization

A single player who wants a character with a set gender can pick it through the menus without any other mods.

Who it’s for: Players who want character customization in Better Than Adventure, and server owners who want statue genders synced across their world.

What the author says

Better With Genders is a cosmetic mod that adds genders to Minecraft BTA, along with some configurations meant for player customization. It's not meant to be a huge mod with gameplay-changing mechanics, but rather a small addition for further characterization. It's a client-side mod, but it works best when used both…
