Biome Control Engine

by noxwave

Biome Control Engine lets a world owner set how large each biome is, how often it appears against its rivals, and the height range where it can generate.

What it does

Biome Control Engine is a NeoForge utility for world generation. Its size multiplier enlarges a biome's climate footprint when raised and shrinks it when lowered, while the rarity multiplier works on its own and decides how often a biome wins a spot over competing biomes. A minimum and maximum world height can be set for each biome, limiting where it may generate.

The mod works with vanilla biomes as well as modded biomes registered by other mods, which are detected automatically and can be configured like any other. Its in-game settings screen lets a player look up, choose and change biomes while staying in the game, instead of hand-editing JSON. Biomes are sorted into per-dimension folders for the Overworld, Nether and End, with one folder per mod that adds biomes to a dimension.

The biome browser is a movable, resizable window; its position and size are remembered between sessions. The mod list can be opened from a button on the title screen, the options menu or the pause menu, or with a hotkey that can be rebound, set to F4 by default. The mod runs on the server, so players join without installing it, and it is published for 1.21.1 only under All rights reserved, not as open source.

Key features

  1. Size multiplier

Raising the value enlarges a biome's climate footprint, and lowering it below the default shrinks the footprint.

  2. Rarity multiplier

Controls how often a biome wins a spot over competing biomes, separately from its size.

  3. Height range limits

A biome can be restricted to a minimum and maximum world height at which it is allowed to generate.

  4. In-game biome browser

A movable, resizable browser lists, searches and edits biomes, with the layout remembered between sessions.

  5. Per-dimension folders

Biomes are grouped into Overworld, Nether and End folders, with one folder for each mod that adds biomes.

  6. Configurable mod list access

The mod list opens from the title screen, options menu or pause menu, or through a rebindable hotkey, F4 by default.
