AudioShutdown
AudioShutdown turns off Minecraft's audio engine after a set time, so a PC can go to sleep while the game is left running.
What it does
Minecraft keeps streaming audio while the game sits in the background or on a paused world, and Windows treats that stream as a reason to stay awake. Players often leave the game open for a long time without hearing anything, and the audio engine stays active the whole time. AudioShutdown shuts the audio engine down so the stream stops, and the system is then free to sleep as it normally would.
The mod is aimed at players who keep Minecraft open for long periods, such as server owners and modders who leave a game running around the clock. Audio stops completely once the engine is switched off, including music played from the main menu, so the mod is only useful when no sound is wanted. It is a Fabric mod and needs Fabric API to load. Installed on the client, it works alone and changes nothing on any server.
The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source, with its source code and issue tracker publicly available. Files cover 17 release versions, 1.19.2 – 1.21.7, with 2.2.0 for 1.21.7 as the latest build, last updated on 2025-07-15.
Key features
Audio engine shutdown
The audio engine is turned off so streaming audio no longer keeps the computer from sleeping.
Paused and unfocused play
Audio stops during a paused world or when the game window loses focus, which is when the engine is most often left running.
Menu music stopped
Sounds played on the main menu also stop, since the whole engine is switched off rather than a single track.
Sound-free sessions
Players who do not hear sound while the game runs can keep it open without the audio stream holding the system awake.

Use cases
Server hosting from a desktop
A home PC that hosts a world or server can sleep when no players are connected, since no audio stream is holding it awake.
Unattended game sessions
Someone who starts a long task inside Minecraft and walks away can let the computer sleep without closing the game.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who keep Minecraft running for long periods without wanting audio, and modders testing in the background. The mod suits people who would rather let the computer sleep than close the game.
