Actually Good Slow Falling

Slow Falling, the potion effect that eases a player's descent, is changed by Actually Good Slow Falling so that sneaking pauses it.
What it does
Vanilla Slow Falling keeps the player drifting down while the effect lasts. This mod lets a player pause the effect by sneaking, which takes its inspiration from the Featherfall Potion in Terraria, and it keeps the effect from being wasted during a long fall. The change is kept small: the mod only alters how the existing effect behaves and does not add a new item or recipe.
The mod is built for survival play and adventure maps where falls are common. A server that runs it gives every player the same behavior, and the gamerule that controls it is set to false by default, so the feature is off until a server owner enables it.
Installation needs Forge or NeoForge for 1.20.1 or 1.21.1. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. It is published under All rights reserved and is not open source, and the author asks that it not be redistributed to other sites or claimed as someone else's work.

Sneak to pause the effect
Holding the sneak key pauses Slow Falling, so the player falls at normal speed until the key is released.
Levitation after the effect
When the potion ends, a short levitation period follows, which can be used to keep a player afloat for a moment.
Adjustable gamerule
A gamerule controls the behavior and is false by default, so a server owner decides whether players get the change.
Experimental behavior
Some sneak and fall interactions are unintended and can let a player fly by pressing the sneak key repeatedly.
