Vine Clipper
by 123FLO321
Vine Clipper lets a player stop vines from spreading by right-clicking them while holding shears, so clipped vines stay in place after they are cut back.
What it does
Clipping is done with shears: right-clicking a vine that is holding shears marks it as clipped, and from then on it no longer spreads to adjacent blocks. A clipped vine looks identical to an unclipped one, so the change is only visible in how it behaves. Clipped vines also receive random world ticks, which is what the mod uses to keep them from spreading.
The mod is a small quality-of-life addition aimed at builders and players who keep vine-covered structures tidy. It works with most vines, and other mods that extend VineBlock are generally supported. Some vines from other mods may be incompatible; the author asks for an issue to be opened when that happens, and the source code is available on GitHub under the MIT License.
Vine Clipper is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the files cover game versions 1.16.5 – 26.2 across 31 release versions. The mod is open source, and the code is under the MIT License. Installing it on a server is needed for the function to work correctly, so server and clients must both run it.
Key features
Clip vines with shears
Right-clicking a vine while holding shears stops it from spreading to neighbouring blocks.
Clipped vines look unchanged
Clipped vines keep the same appearance as ordinary vines, so the difference is only in growth.
Works with most vines
The clipping applies to vines from vanilla and to most vine blocks from other mods that extend VineBlock.
Shears behave like vanilla
Clipped vines can be sheared like other vanilla growing blocks, so no new tool is required.

How it compares
Shearable Vines is a client and server mod under the MIT License, published for 1.19 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, so it covers more loaders and a wider version range. Sheared Vines is server-side only, so players can join without installing it, and it is published for Fabric only, for 26.1 – 26.2. Vine Cork is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, on Fabric, for 26.1 – 26.3.
