Vanimals

The mod places new animals in Snowy Plains, Plains, Warm Oceans, Mangrove Swamps, Rivers and Mangrove Swamps. Some can be ridden once a saddle is equipped, and an Apple on a Stick steers them. Certain animals are aggressive, move slowly, and ram with heavy damage; a player holding a shield can block the ram and stun them. Their meat and Bison Horns, which work as bonemeal, are the drops.

Mudskipper works like a backpack: it is tamed with a Four-Eyed Fish Eye, can be told to sit or wander, and carries a four-slot inventory that stays intact when the animal is bucketed. Four-Eyed Fish can be sheared for the eye item and regrow their fins. Napoleon Fish eat dead coral and currently perform no behavior beyond that.

Vanimals is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Forge only, with builds for 1.20.1 and the latest file 0.4.3 dated 2025-08-23 on the beta channel. The code is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
