TireTrack

by Danzy_189

TireTrack makes wheels leave lasting marks on the ground, so every drive through soft terrain changes the landscape the vehicle passes over.

What it does

The mod keeps a record of ground contact: when a tire rolls over a surface, that surface is worn and retains the impression. Grass, dirt, gravel, clay and mud degrade through stages under repeated traffic, and a single pass leaves only a faint trail while driving the same line many times digs a churned, waterlogged rut. Weather speeds up wear in rain and slows it in hot, dry biomes, and snow and ice compact into layers that behave differently. Stone can crack cobblestone and andesite under medium to heavy loads, so quarry roads look worn rather than tiled.

Heavier vehicles cut deeper: the mass and physics body of a vehicle decide how far the ground breaks, so a light buggy only scuffs a path while a loaded 200-block industrial hauler can dig a trench that fills with water. Wheels also spray what they roll through, with water sheeting off puddles, snow kicking up flakes, dust rising from dry dirt and mud throwing clods, and material sticking to the tire and flinging a few blocks after it leaves a patch. Deformation runs on the server, so it is multiplayer-safe, and the mod needs NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Progressive rut stages

Grass, dirt, gravel, clay and mud move through stages of wear as traffic repeats over the same ground.

  2. Mass-based deformation

The physics body of a vehicle decides how deep the ground breaks, from faint scuffs to filled trenches.

  3. Weather-driven wear

Rain accelerates wear, while hot, dry biomes slow it down, so the same route ages differently across a world.

  4. Spray and debris

Wheels throw water, snow, dust and mud clods, and material stuck to the tire is flung a few blocks away.

What the author says

TireTracks — your wheels finally leave a mark. Minecraft doesn't care how heavy your vehicle is. Drive a 200-block industrial hauler across a meadow and the grass stays perfect. TireTracks fixes that: every wheel that touches the ground wears it down, and the ground remembers.
