Smart Chest Utils puts two buttons on chest screens, Merge and Sort, for moving items in and tidying the contents of storage.

What it does

Opening a chest, barrel or shulker box shows a Merge button and a Sort button in its interface. Merge deposits every item from the player's inventory that matches something already stored in the container, and Sort rearranges the contents of the container itself.

The mod only adds these interface buttons and no blocks, items or game mechanics, so a world looks and plays the same otherwise. It is a client-side utility: only the player needs it, and servers can run without it. It targets Minecraft 1.21 and 1.21.1 on Fabric, and the 1.0.0 file for 1.21.1 is the latest build, released 2026-01-22 under the MIT License. The code is not open source. Fabric API is required and must be installed alongside it.
