RailSpeed
by StaticLabs
RailSpeed raises the top speed of minecarts on rails, and players who travel between bases use it to cut waiting time on long routes.
What it does
The mod is a datapack that boosts the default minecart speed, so carts reach higher top speeds on standard powered rails without any custom blocks. Corners and slopes are handled so carts keep their track instead of derailing, a problem that older speed mods often had. The datapack uses optimized functions, and server owners can set a chosen speed with the minecartMaxSpeed gamerule to fine-tune the experience.
Installation means dropping the datapack into the world save's datapacks folder. Servers need the mod, because it changes how carts move on the server side; players may add it for their own use. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 21 release versions, 1.20 – 26.1.1, and snapshot builds are also available. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Faster minecarts
Minecarts on boosted rails reach higher top speeds, turning long trips into a matter of seconds.
Corner and slope handling
Carts stay on the track through turns and inclines, avoiding the derailing seen in older speed mods.
Adjustable speed
The minecartMaxSpeed gamerule sets the top speed, so a server can keep the default feel or push it further.
Works with vanilla rails
Standard powered rails are boosted directly, and the mod needs no custom blocks or machinery.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
26.x2 of 2 versions with builds
1.21.x12 of 12 versions with builds
1.20.x7 of 7 versions with builds
This mod also publishes snapshot builds. Snapshots are not shown in the matrix.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners who run rail networks and players who build long minecart routes on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt.
How it compares
High-Speed Rail is server-side only, released under the MIT License and published for 1.19.2 – 26.2 on Fabric and NeoForge, so it covers fewer loaders than RailSpeed. [Crafting] More Rails, Faster Carts is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, and its files run on 1.21.2 – 26.3 with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Increased Rails Recipe Output changes crafting yields for rails rather than cart speed, and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.
