Quick Climb
by StaticLabs
Quick Climb speeds up ladder climbing for players who scale long vertical runs, and it works through a datapack rather than a client install.
What it does
Players who hold the look-up direction while on a ladder get a small upward push, so long climbs take less time. The boost is calculated each tick, which means that stepping off a ladder or looking away stops it at once, and no floaty motion or accidental flight carries on afterwards. Quick Climb is also tuned so that scaffolding and vines keep their normal behavior.
Installation needs only the mod files for the loader in use, and a world can take the datapack by dropping it into its datapacks folder. Quick Climb is server required and client optional: the server must run it, while players may leave it out. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, plus a Data pack build, across 29 game versions, 1.18 – 26.1.1. The latest builds for every loader are dated 2026-03-16. The mod is not open source and is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Look Up Boost
Ladders receive a subtle upward motion when the crosshair points up, making long climbs quicker.
Precision control
The boost stops the moment a player hops off or looks away, so no residual drift is left behind.
Ladder focus
The tuning applies only to ladders, leaving scaffolding and vines with their vanilla movement.
Lightweight checks
Predicates refresh on a single-tick cycle, keeping the workload small even on busy servers.

Use cases
Long mineshaft climbs
Players moving between levels of deep mines or tall towers spend less time on each ladder run.
Multiplayer servers
Server owners add the datapack to a world and keep the mod on the server side, so players need nothing installed.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want ladder climbs to be faster while keeping the vanilla feel of the rest of the game. The mod suits survival worlds and multiplayer servers that already run mods or datapacks.
How it compares
Better Climbing is client-side only, released under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and open source, with files for 1.18.1 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Quick Climb needs the server and runs without a client install. Ladders Don't Suck is server required and client optional under the MIT License, but it is not open source and targets 1.21.3 – 26.1.2.
