PetPhraseX

by HSSkyBoy

PetPhraseX adds pet-style phrases to outgoing chat, such as a nya at the end of a sentence, and players set the exact typing quirk in the in-game config menu.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.16.2 – 26.1.2

What it does

Once installed, the client rewrites messages the player sends in chat and inserts configured phrases at the start or end of each message, or at the start and end of each sentence. Players choose the wording of each insertion, so one player can use a single suffix while another builds a full typing quirk. The mod is a lightweight client mod, and it changes nothing on the server side, so the server does not need it.

Messages can be left untouched on purpose. A prefix such as Ignore Mark bypasses the processing for that one message, and the prefix is hidden from the chat line. Players who only want the decoration on some lines can switch it on and off as they type without editing the config again.

The mod is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later, and its source code is public. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, across game versions 1.16.2 – 26.1.2 with 32 release versions, and snapshot builds are published. The latest Fabric file is 1.4.1 for 26.1.2, the latest NeoForge file is 1.4.0 for 1.21.11, and the latest Forge file is 1.1.0 for 1.18.2 on the beta channel.

Key features

  1. Message prefix and suffix

A phrase can be added before or after each whole message the player sends.

  2. Sentence prefix and suffix

A phrase can be placed at the start or end of every sentence inside a message.

  3. Ignore Mark

A prefix that sends a message completely untouched and hides the prefix itself.

  4. Five-way customization

Message and sentence insertions can be combined, so the typing quirk can be tuned to exact wording and placement.

  5. Config menu setup

All phrases and placements are set in the in-game config menu, with no file editing needed.

Use cases

Roleplay and streams

Players who want a consistent speaking style in chat can set one quirk and keep it across sessions.

Mixed chat habits

A player can keep plain messages for serious topics and decorate casual ones using the Ignore Mark prefix.

Who it’s for: Players who want a personal typing style in chat. Servers do not need it, because only the client changes the text the player sends.

Questions

Does PetPhraseX need to be installed on the server?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.

Which loaders does PetPhraseX support?

It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The Forge file listed as latest is 1.1.0 for 1.18.2 on the beta channel.

How does a message skip the phrases?

Starting a message with the Ignore Mark prefix sends it completely untouched, and the prefix is hidden from the chat line.
