my movement fix

by t3oCorp

my movement fix is a client-side patch for Fabric and Babric that stops movement keys from sticking after the inventory is opened.

FabricBabricClient-side onlyCreative Commons Attribution 4.0b1.7.3

What it does

When a player opens the inventory while holding WASD and space, the movement keys can stay active after release, so the character keeps walking or jumping. The mod changes how these inputs are handled to stop that behavior. Only the client needs it, and servers run without it. Files target b1.7.3 only, with Snapshot builds published, and the work is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Stuck movement keys

Keys held through an inventory opening no longer keep the character moving after they are released.

  2. Jumping after release

The character stops jumping when the space key is let go, even if it was pressed while the inventory was open.

  3. Input handling fix

The mod corrects how held movement keys are read while the inventory is open, which is what causes them to stick.

No per-version build data
Modrinth lists game versions for this project (b1.7.3), but the source data has no build per game version and loader, so the compatibility grid is not shown.

Questions

Does my movement fix need to be on the server?

No. It is client-side only, so players install it and servers do not need it.

What the author says

My Movement Fix fixes a beta 1.7.3 input bug where pressing a movement key (WASD or space) at the same time as opening the inventory causes the movement key to “stick,” so the player keeps moving or jumping after the key is released.
