Lava Dynamics

Lava Dynamics generates volcanoes during world generation, with lava cones, magma cores and lava calderas placed in the terrain.
What it does
Volcanoes are created as the world is smelted, so new terrain can contain cones built from real volcano shapes rather than flat lava pools. Each cone has a magma block core, and a lava caldera can form at its top. Spawn chance defaults to 5 percent, and the number and type of ore cones can be adjusted in the config file.
The mod requires Forge and is published for 1.12.2 and 1.16.5. The server needs the mod, while clients may join without it, so a server owner installs it while players need nothing extra. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source and issue tracker are public.
The author notes that the default settings are destructive, since volcanoes can reshape large areas of a world. Pre-generated worlds are not affected, so the mod is more suitable for testing on a fresh world.
