InvSeparate

by 终章EndlessMC

With InvSeparate, a single Velocity proxy can route players to different modpack backends based on an identifier sent during login.

What it does

InvSeparate is a routing solution for Minecraft networks that host several modpacks behind one proxy. The client mod attaches a pack identifier before backend selection takes place, and the Velocity plugin reads that identifier to decide which login server a player goes to and which backend they finally reach.

Routing happens in two stages: the login server first, then the final backend. Clients without the mod, or with an identifier the proxy does not recognize, fall back to a default destination, so vanilla players can still join the same proxy. The mod is developed against Velocity 3.4.x and targets compatibility through Velocity 4.x.

The NeoForge file is the client part, published for 1.21.1 under the MIT License and open source. Only the client needs it; the proxy side is a Velocity plugin that is not part of the NeoForge build.

Key features

  1. Identifier-based routing

The pack identifier from the handshake determines the destination, so different modpacks can share one address.

  2. Two-stage routing

Players are sent to a login server first and then to the final backend, with both stages decided by the plugin.

  3. Default fallback

Vanilla clients and unknown identifiers receive a default destination instead of being refused.

  4. Configurable client identifier

The client mod reads the identifier from its configuration, so each modpack can announce its own pack value.

Use cases

Multi-pack server networks

A network that hosts several modpacks behind a single Velocity proxy can route each pack's players to its own backend.

Mixed vanilla and modded access

Vanilla players and modpack players can use the same proxy address, with vanilla players receiving the default destination.

Who it’s for: Server owners running Velocity proxies in front of several Minecraft backends, and modpack authors who want their players to reach the right backend without separate addresses.

Questions

Does InvSeparate need to be installed on the server?

The NeoForge build is client-side only, so players install it and servers do not need it. The routing side is a Velocity plugin that runs on the proxy.

Which Velocity versions does InvSeparate support?

The plugin is developed against Velocity 3.4.x, and its target compatibility range runs through Velocity 4.x.

Can players without the client mod still join?

Yes. Clients without the mod, or with an identifier the proxy does not recognize, are sent to the default fallback destination.
