Floocraft

by fredtargaryen

Floocraft adds a Harry Potter style teleport system, in which players throw Floo Powder into a lit fireplace and choose a destination.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.7.10 – 1.21.5

What it does

Players craft Floo Powder and throw it into a lit fireplace to pick a destination. Floo Torches teleport a player to nearby empty space beside a linked Floo Torch, and a Floower Pot acts as a container that converts nearby fires into Floo fires automatically. Villagers, mobs and items can also be teleported when they walk into a Floo fire.

Fireplaces can be built in almost any size and shape from most solid blocks, including blocks added by other mods, and redstone can be incorporated into them. A player can peek through certain fireplaces without teleporting, so a Floo network can be checked before travelling.

The mod runs on both sides: the server and every player need it. Floocraft is published for Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.7.10 – 1.21.5 across ten release versions, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only. The latest NeoForge file is 2.0.0 for 1.21.5, and the latest Forge file is 1.16.1 for 1.16.3.

Key features

  1. Floo Powder travel

Throwing Floo Powder into a lit fireplace opens a choice of destinations, giving a fast way across the world.

  2. Floo Torches

Floo Torches teleport a player to empty space nearby, so a linked torch works as a stop on the network.

  3. Floower Pot converter

A Floower Pot converts nearby fires into Floo fires automatically, which keeps a network extensible as it grows.

  4. Custom fireplaces

Fireplaces can be shaped from almost any solid block, including modded blocks, and can include redstone.

Use cases

Town and base networks

Fireplaces placed in towns, bases and farms let players link distant areas into one travel network.

Mob and villager transport

Villagers, mobs and items that walk into a Floo fire are carried to their destination, which can move workers between sites.

Who it’s for: Players who want a Harry Potter style travel system in survival or creative worlds, and server owners who want a shared Floo network for their players.
