CarryOn [BTW Addon]

by Inf1nlty

Once CarryOn [BTW Addon] is in place, a player with both hands empty can lift a chest, furnace or dropper, or a small animal, and carry it to another spot.

Legacy FabricClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.6.4

What it does

Holding nothing in both hands, a player can shift and right-click a tile entity or a baby animal to lift it, then right-click again to set it down elsewhere. The contents, metadata and NBT data of a lifted block are kept, so a filled chest or machine returns exactly as it was. Smaller mobs can be carried in the same way, which lets players move livestock or pets without a lead or a pen. The mod is built around the idea that picking up and placing blocks should not need a tool or a separate item.

The mod uses the Legacy Fabric loader and is published only for Minecraft 1.6.4, with a single file, 1.0.0 for 1.6.4, dated 2026-03-02. It runs on the client and the server, so both need it, and the source code is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, which makes it open source. The project keeps public source code and an issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Carry tile entities

Chests, furnaces, droppers and other single-block tile entities can be lifted and set down again.

  2. Keep block state

Inventory contents, metadata and NBT data stay with a block while it is carried.

  3. Carry baby animals

Shift and right-click with empty hands lifts a baby animal or a smaller mob for relocation.

  4. Bare-hand operation

Picking up and placing requires two empty hands, so no pickaxe or other item is needed.

Relocating livestock

Baby animals can be carried to a pen or a breeding area by hand.

Who it’s for: Players of Legacy Fabric 1.6.4 who want to rearrange storage and machines during play, and server owners who run the mod for everyone on a shared world.

How it compares

Full comparison

DraNimation Lib [BTW Addon] is also a Legacy Fabric addon for 1.6.4, but it is client required with the server optional and released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, so it is not open source. Jeffy Backpacks [BTW Addon] runs on the client and server and is open source under the MIT License, but it adds portable inventories rather than a way to carry blocks. [BTW Addon] Boat Mapping is client and server, open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, and changes boat-related mapping instead of carrying blocks.
