Redstone Tweaks

by Rikai_

Redstone Tweaks changes how redstone behaves in Better than Adventure, with adjustments to wire, levers, mesh blocks and the activator block.

BTA BabricClient or server, optionalCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen sourceb1.7.3

What it does

The mod improves Better Adventure redstone mechanics. Redstone blocks can be set to power adjacent blocks for longer, a behavior controlled by the redstoneBlockHardPower gamerule, so builders can choose whether it applies in their world. Redstone wire can also carry power diagonally from certain sources, and wire placement next to a lever's side block has been adjusted.

Levers placed on a block face now line up parallel to the player's view instead of perpendicular to it, and Gold Mesh Blocks pass powered items through as they do so in the altered design. A fix for merged Better Adventure blocks is included. The project aims to improve Better Adventure as a whole and is published for BTA Babric only, for the b1.7.3 game version.

Either side can run the mod, and neither needs it. The license is CC0 1.0 Universal, which places the code in the public domain, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Snapshot builds are published alongside releases.

Key features

  1. Longer hard power

Redstone blocks can power adjacent blocks for longer, and a gamerule switches this behavior on or off.

  2. Activator slot locking

The activator block locks and releases slots through left click, middle click, or by freeing a slot holding an item.

  3. Parallel levers

Levers sit parallel to the player's view rather than perpendicular to it when placed.

  4. Diagonal redstone wire

Redstone wire carries power from diagonal sources in some cases where vanilla wire would not.

No per-version build data
Modrinth lists game versions for this project (b1.7.3), but the source data has no build per game version and loader, so the compatibility grid is not shown.

Use cases

Redstone builds

Builders working on circuits in Better than Adventure can rely on changed power and wire behavior.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who build redstone contraptions in Better than Adventure and want its mechanics adjusted to their preferences.

How it compares

Full comparison

Better With Hands also runs on the client and server and is open source under the MIT License, but it covers a wider set of changes rather than redstone alone. Blueprints BTA is client-side only under the MIT License, so it changes nothing on the server. NSSS Leaves needs the server while clients may leave it out, and is open source under the MIT License.

Questions

Does Redstone Tweaks need Better than Adventure to run?

Yes. The mod is published for BTA Babric only, for the b1.7.3 game version, and it changes Better Adventure redstone mechanics.

Does the server need Redstone Tweaks?

No. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so installing it on one side is enough and it can run on a client alone or a server alone.

Can the longer hard power behavior be turned off?

Yes. The redstoneBlockHardPower gamerule controls whether redstone blocks power adjacent blocks for longer.
