Bonsai Crops

by src_resources

Bonsai Crops lets a crop grow inside a single block space, using a Bonsai Pot that players craft from two blocks.

NeoForgeClient and serverBSD 3-Clause License1.21 – 1.21.4

What it does

Bonsai Crops adds a Bonsai Pot in which one crop grows, confined to one block. Players craft the pot from the recipes the mod provides, and the crop develops there until it reaches maturity. The crop drops are defined by the crop block's loot table, so the drops can be changed through datapacks.

The Hopping Bonsai Pot automates harvesting. Once a crop becomes mature, the pot harvests it on its own, and manual harvesting remains possible. The drops are passed into a container placed directly below the pot, such as a vanilla chest, so the container needs enough free space to receive them. When that space runs out, the pot stops and the crop ceases to grow until the container is emptied.

Bonsai Crops is built for NeoForge and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Kotlin for Forge is required as a dependency. The latest file is 0.1.1.0 for 1.21.4, and files cover 1.21 – 1.21.4. The mod is released under the BSD 3-Clause License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Bonsai Pot

A pot that holds one crop and grows it within a single block space, craftable from two blocks.

  2. Hopping Bonsai Pot

An automated variant that harvests mature crops and passes the drops into the container below.

  3. Drops from loot tables

Crop drops follow the loot table of the crop block, so the output is set by the definition.

  4. Datapack drop changes

Drops can be modified by editing the crop block's loot table through datapacks.

Questions

Does Bonsai Crops need Kotlin for Forge?

Yes. Kotlin for Forge is a required dependency and must be installed alongside Bonsai Crops.

Does the server need Bonsai Crops?

Yes. Installation covers the server and each player's game.

What happens when the container below a Hopping Bonsai Pot is full?

The pot cannot place its drops, so it stops and the crop ceases to grow until the container has space again.
